Making its grand return in 2021, DJ competition Spin-Off is being reignited for the Sydney Solstice and Mardi Gras Pride Weekender – in search of Australia’s next generation of LGBTQI+ DJs.
A community favourite throughout the noughties and ‘10s, Spin-Off provides a platform for bedroom producers and amateur DJs to get behind the decks in front of a party audience, and battle it out on the ones and twos, with K.I.M (The Presets) closing out the event as special guest headliner.
This is a landmark event for 2021, being the first dance party held at The Metro since early 2020. The competition will be judged by Australian DJ royalty, including Kate Monroe, Feisty, Seymour Butz and Charlie Villas. Winners will have the chance to perform at a future Mardi Gras event – Mardi Gras Pride Weekender.
Mardi Gras Pride Weekender is two days of celebration that also honour Mardi Gras’ history and heritage. Part of This Pride Month, Mardi Gras Pride Weekender supports the return of live entertainment, dance parties and large gatherings after a year's hiatus post-Covid.
Sydney has an excellent public transport network and you can get to all of the Sydney Solstice precincts by bus, train, light rail or ferry. Parking will be limited at most festival venues, so we recommend you travel by public transport rather than driving. Check out our Transport section for more information.
